HC Deb 28 February 1902 vol 104 cc127-8

On the Motion for the adjournment,

MR. MURPHY (Kerry, E.)

May I ask the Secretary of State for War whether the rumour of the capture of 500 British soldiers in the recent attack on a convoy is correct?

MR. BRODRICK

I regret to say there was a very considerable loss. Sixteen officers and 451 men were taken prisoners in the attack on the convoy, and as far as I know the casualties are about 120.

MR. POWER

Will the right hon. Gentleman say what about the guns?

MR. BRODRICK

Lord Kitchener's telegram says nothing about the guns.

Adjourned at twenty-five minutes after Twelve o'clock till Monday next.
