HC Deb 27 February 1902 vol 103 cc1298-9
MR. HOULT (Cheshire, Wirrall)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he can state the number of branches of the United Irish League now recognised by the Government to be effective; what alteration in the number of such branches has there been since February, 1901; and if it is the intention of the Government to suppress such.

MR. WYNDHAM

During the debate on the Address I dealt at some length with the United Irish League, and I shall be prepared to supplement that statement on the first appropriate occasion. It is a matter which I cannot discuss by way of Question and answer. My hon. friend will, I understand, have an opportunity of raising this question tomorrow,

CAPTAIN DONELAN (Cork Co., E.)

Will the right hon. Gentleman kindly inquire why the hon. Member takes so much interest in the United Irish League?

* MR. SPEAKER

Order, order!
