M'HUGH (Leitrim, N.)I beg also to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland 1300 whether he can explain why the Intermediate Education Board have appointed, or are about to appoint, a foreigner as examiner in Irish, seeing that there are Irishmen of well recognised attainments in the language and literature of Ireland.

§ MR. THOMAS O'DONNELLIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that when the Welsh Education Board wanted an examiner in Welsh they did not go to Germany for one? Is it not the fact that the Board have appointed a German to examine in Irish, when there are several competent Irish scholars?
