§ MR. YOXALL (Nottingham, W.)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War whether the Inquiry into the conduct of business by the Remounts Department will be confined to the responsibility of General Truman, or will be so extended as to examine into the alleged connection of a former officer of that department with Members of the firm of Houlder Brothers, and with the proprietary of ships specially built for Government transport contract work, and afterwards included in the Houlder line.
§ MR. BRODRICKAs I have already stated, the Inquiry will be confined to the responsibility of General Truman.
§ MR. YOXALLMay I ask the right hon. Gentleman to consider the case of another officer of the Remount Department which I submitted to him the other day?
§ MR. BRODRICKIt is not the responsibility of the other officers that the Court is to inquire into; it is the responsibility of General Truman, and until that has been before the Court it is impossible for me to inquire into the case of other officers.
