ROCHE (Galway, E.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he is aware that the police constable who is married to the postmistress at Wood Lawn, County Galway, is assisting at evictions carried out by the landlord of the post office; and whether he will consider the advisability of having this police constable removed from the district.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThis constable has not, as a matter of fact, been detailed for duty at the evictions referred to. There is, however, no reason for exempting him from discharging this or any other duty incumbent on the Force, nor would the assumption mentioned in the question, even if true, render him liable to removal from the district.
§ MR. ROCHEIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that the county Inspector is a frequent guest at the house of this landlord's evictor?
