[SECOND READING.]

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE SECRETARY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. GRANT LAWSON,) Yorkshire, N.R., Thirsk

, said he proposed to put down the Second Reading of the Bill on Monday.

Mr. LOUGH

said the right hon. Gentleman the President of the Local Government Board had promised a fortnight's notice before the Bill was seriously commenced, and he therefore thought it would not be reasonable to bring it on without a longer notice.

MR. GRANT LAWSON

said that his right hon. friend was ill, and it was not possible for him to consult him. He was glad, however, to be able to say that he was better, and would be in the office next day, when he would consult him on the matter.
