DAVID MORGAN (Essex, Walthamstow)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General whether he has received a petition from the London 186 Committee of the Telegraph Clerks Association, asking that all appointments in the Engineering Branch of the Telegraph Department, should be open for competition among the operating staff, and that the age limit of 26 years should be abolished; and, if so, whether an answer can now be given.
§ MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAINThe Postmaster General received the petition in question. It has been carefully considered, and he hopes to be able to give a reply to the Memorialists in a few days.
