HC Deb 15 December 1902 vol 116 c1201
MR. HARMSWORTH

To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether telescopes for the purpose of improvement in straight shooting are supplied by His Majesty's Government to naval officers, or whether such telescopes are purchased by the officers in question from thier private resources.

(Answered by Mr. Arnold-Forster.) Telescopic sights are provided for certain types of guns, and the supply is being extended as manufacture admits. It is not the practice to furnish telescopes to the officers who are already in possession of them as a necessary part of their equipment.
