§ MAJOR RASCH () Essex, ChelmsfordTo ask the Secretary of State for War if he will state the items of special expenditure incurred by Militia officers in South Africa with units other than their own that necessitated the £100 allowance; and if he will explain why it was refused to officers going to the front with their own corps.

This allowance was given to cover the expense of a different uniform and outfit which it was represented to the War Office was incurred by officers going to the front with corps other than their own. Militia officers proceeding with their own units wore the uniform of their corps.
