To ask the Secretary to the Admiralty whether orders have yet been placed for the contract-built battleship and cruiser and for the armour required for the dockyard-built battleship and cruiser authorised under the naval programme of the current financial year.

(Answered by Mr. Arnold-Forster.) The order for the contract-built battleship has been placed; that for the contract-built cruiser has not yet been placed, but tenders are at present under consideration. No orders for armour for the battleship and cruiser to be built in the dockyards have yet been placed, but tenders for the armour for the battleship are at present under consideration.
