HC Deb 04 December 1902 vol 115 c1330
MR. TULLY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Commissioner of Police has directed an inquiry into the action of the Dublin Metropolitan Police in locking up without any authority from the owners that premises situated at 39, Upper O'Connell Street, Dublin, on the 27th November; and what explanation has been offered by the police authorities to the gentleman who was affected by this action.

MR. WYNDHAM

The culprit—if, indeed, blame attaches to anyone—was not a member of the Dublin Metropolitan Police, but the caretaker of the premises. It was a constable, however, who procured the ladder by means of which the hon. and learned Member for South Donegal descended to the street, and who received the thanks of the latter for the trouble he had taken.
