HC Deb 02 December 1902 vol 115 cc925-6
*SIR CHARLES DILKE

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, having regard to the possible value for telegraph purposes of the Tristan da Cunha group of islands, including Gough Island, steps are being taken to retain the ownership claim of the British Government over these islands.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

These islands are under British sovereignty. His Majety's Government have now under consideration the question of granting furhter licences for the removel of guano from some of them. The group is periodically visited by one of His Majesty's vessels.
