MACARTNEY () Antrim, S.To ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, having regard to the fact that the Commissioners of National Education, when fixing the consolidated salaries of Irish National School 842 teachers on the basis of the average income for the three years ending 31st March, 1900, made application to the Treasury to allow in some cases a consolidated income equal to the earnings for the year ending 31st March, 1900, will he say whether this application was granted; and, if not, will he state the reasons upon which it was refused.
(Answered by Mr. Wyndham.) A proposal was made to the Treasury to the effect stated in the first part of the Question. The Treasury did not see its way to agree to the proposal.
