§ * SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether in the correspondence with the Government of India, the Viceroy in Council has expressed an opinion on the proper terms of service of the British troops; whether, when the correspondence is completed, the written opinions of the members of the Viceroy's Council upon the terms of service will be laid upon the Table.

HAMILTONBeyond a wish to extend by bounty the service of a certain number of men, no opinion has been expressed by the Viceroy in Council on the proper terms of service of the British troops, nor am I aware of the existence of any written opinions of members of the Viceroy's Council on this subject.
