DAVID THOMAS (Merthyr Tydvil)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether he will state when the lease of the present Merthyr Post Office expires; whether ground has been acquired for a new Post Office; and, so, when will the new building be commenced.
§ MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAINThe lease of the present Post Office at Merthyr will expire on the 1st of May next, and arrangements have been made to provide a temporary office in Globe-land Street. The site for the new office in John Street has been acquired, but it is not likely that the building will be commenced during the present financial year.
