STEVENSON (Suffolk, Eye)I beg to ask the Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he can now communicate to the House, either as a Parliamentary Paper or in reply to a Question, the text of the Circular Note recently addressed by the Powers to the Porte with reference to the condition of European Turkey: and whether he will lay upon the Table copies of the Reports addressed to Sir Nicholas O'Conor during the past twelve months by His Majesty's Consular officers in Macedonia.
§ LORD CRANBORNENo such Circular or collective note has been addressed by the Powers to the Porte. His Majesty's Ambassador, as well as the representatives of other Powers, have, however, been in frequent communication with the Porte as to the condition of Macedonia. It would not be desirable in the public interest to present Papers to Parliament at the present moment.
