§ MR TREVELYAN (Yorkshire, W.R, Elland)I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the statements made by the Secretary to the Treasury on 16th May, 1901, and 26th 152 July, 1901, that legislation would be necessary to make the Order in Council based on the Report of the Ridley Commission applicable to the clerks of the several divisions of the High Court, and, considering the opinion expressed by the Judge of the Probate Court in common with the late Lord Herschell in favour of retiring rules working automatically, His Majesty's Government propose to initiate such legislation during the present session.
