ERNEST GRAY (West Ham, N.)I beg to ask the Vice President of the Committee of Council on Education whether he is aware that the Burghley Road and Monnow Road Schools, under the control of the London School Board, were sanctioned by the Board of Education (subject to the observance of certain conditions) as higher elementary schools, and that the London School Board then withdrew its application on behalf of these schools; whether reasons for the withdrawal were given to the Board of Education, and, if so, can he state what they were.
