HC Deb 10 April 1902 vol 105 c1446
SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India whether he can state what is the exact amount of the proportion of the special bounty to time-expired men to be paid by India, and what the amount of the saving to India on transport which the retention of these men effects.

LORD G. HAMILTON

The exact amount of the proportion of the special bounty to time-expired men to be paid by India is one half. The amount of the saving to India on transport which the retention of these men effects cannot be stated exactly, but it is roughly estimated at, £10 per man.
