HC Deb 23 May 1901 vol 94 c975
COLONEL MILWARD (Warwickshire Stratford-upon-Avon)

I beg to ask the First Commissioner of Works whether the condition under which the national museums and art galleries in London were opened on Sundays, which was to the effect that no officer shall be required to attend on more than six days per week and that anyone who may have conscientious objections shall be exempt from Sunday duty, has been in practice adhered to.

MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

The condition referred to was communicated to the heads of the several museums and galleries at the time that the Sunday opening was agreed to, and no instance has been brought to my notice of that condition not being observed.
