HC Deb 17 May 1901 vol 94 cc454-5
MR. DALY (Monaghan, S.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord. Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state if the Department of Agriculture and Technical Instruction would be prepared to advance money to farmers; in Ireland to help them to purchase machinery for either crop saving or dairying purposes; and, if so, whether he can state the terms of repayment of such advances.

THE CHIEF SECRETARY FOR IRELAND (Mr. WYNDHAM,) Dover

The question of granting loans to farmers for either of the purposes mentioned is under consideration by the Department.

MR. DALY

When is the right hon. Gentleman likely to be in a position to make an announcement of the point?

MR. WYNDHAM

I hope shortly. I am in communication with the Department.
