HC Deb 16 May 1901 vol 94 c237
MR. ALFRED DAVIES (Carmarthen Boroughs)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he will state whether there have been recent inquiries by the War Office into certain departments, such as artillery, guns, and transports; and, if so, whether they will interfere with the promised inquiry into the general conduct of the war.

THE FIRST LORD OF THE TREASURY (Mr. A. J. BALFOUR,) Manchester, E.

There have been inquiries into the matters referred to, but it will be obvious to the hon. Member on the smallest reflection that these will not interfere with the further inquiry he desires.

MR. COURTENAY WARNER (Staffordshire, Lichfield)

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us a day for the discussion of this subject, say on Vote 3 of the Army Estimates?

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I can make no statement as to the Army Estimates now.
