HC Deb 13 May 1901 vol 93 c1482
SIR LEWIS M'IVER (Edinburgh, W.)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether, seeing that public business in Edinburgh is practically suspended on Tuesday, the 21st inst., in consequence of the opening of the General Assembly, he will authorise the Board of Inland Revenue to close their office in Edinburgh on that day, in accordance with the practice which has hitherto obtained.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I understand that the birthday of Her late Majesty will be kept as usual in Scotland on the same day as the opening of the General Assembly, and will be a public holiday.
