HC Deb 13 May 1901 vol 93 cc1470-1
*MR. DELANY

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he will grant a Return showing the number of children discharged from Irish industrial schools by his or his predecessor's orders, or by the order of the Lord Lieutenant, since the 1st October, 1898; and what proportion of such children have been recommitted by the magistrates.

MR. WYNDHAM

Forty-one children have been discharged since the date mentioned, the committal orders having been imperfect and unlawful. Seventeen were re-committed, of whom eight were a second time discharged, the orders of detention being still unlawful.
