HC Deb 10 May 1901 vol 93 c1321
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, as representing the Secretary for Scotland, if he will state the average price per acre paid for the land acquired by the Congested Districts Board for each settlement of crofters in the crofting counties; and will he say whether any crofters or cottars have been migrated to districts outside the congested area; and, if any, will he give their number.

*MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

I regret I am unable to supply the average price per acre as asked in the hon. Member's question; the calculation would be not only useless but misleading. Some families have been moved from areas where congestion of population is great to other places, but if by the congested area the hon. Member intends to describe the area of operations of the Congested Districts Board, the answer is that as yet no such removals have taken place.
