CAINE (Cornwall, Camborne)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for India if he will lay upon the Table of the House the Report and Appendices thereto on Peasant Indebtedness and Land Alienations to Money Lenders in parts of the Rawal Pindi Division, made by Mr. S. S. Thorburn, Commissioner of that division, dated 1st May, 1896.
§ LORD G. HAMILTONThe Report and Appendices to which the hon. Member refers are very lengthy, and could not be published except as part of a correspondence which, as a whole, would form a bulky volume. I do not think that I should be justified in laying it upon the Table of the House, but I shall be prepared to let the hon. Member see a copy if he wishes it.
§ MR. CAINEI do not wish to put the Department to unnecessary expense. The document need not be printed, if it is laid so that hon. Members may see it.
