SYDNEY BUXTON (Tower Hamlets, Poplar)I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether on 24th March the Legislative Council of the Gold Coast passed through all its stages in one sitting a Bill providing for the deportation of the chiefs and headmen of Ashanti; and, if so, what is the object of the Bill, and whether it has received his assent.
§ MR. J. CHAMBERLAINI have no information to the effect indicated in the hon. Member's question. His Majesty's Government have, however, approved of the deportation of the principal ringleaders in the recent rising.
