HC Deb 07 May 1901 vol 93 c951
MR. ALFRED HUTTON (Yorkshire, W.R., Morley)

I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Committee of Council on Education whether he can state when the Evening Continuation School Code will be introduced, and what is the cause of the unusual delay, and what are the consequences of failure to comply with Article 19 of last year's Code, which specifies 1st May as the last day.

SIR J. GORST

The judgment of the supreme court in the Cockerton case has rendered necessary a complete reconsideration of the work of evening schools. The regulations affecting them are under the consideration of the Board of Education, and will be produced as early as possible.
