HC Deb 02 May 1901 vol 93 c434
DR. FARQUHARSON

I beg to ask the President of the Local Government Board whether he will state the number of children in the metropolitan poor law-schools, infirmaries, and workhouses who were returned as suffering from ophthalmia and ringworm, respectively, on the date of the last Return.

MR. WALTER LONG

The Returns are not all made up to the same date, but according to the latest information in my possession the number of children suffering from ophthalmia and ringworm, respectively, is—in metropolitan poor law schools, 445 and 280; and in metropolitan workhouses and infirmaries, 337 and 297.
