HC Deb 02 May 1901 vol 93 cc401-2
MR. J. P. FARRELL

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether any report has recently been received relative to the estate of a soldier named James Murray, who was killed in the last native war in South Africa, and whose title deeds were lodged under an assumed name with the probate authorities in South Africa; whether any effort has been made to wind up such properties having regard to the occurrence of the war; and as this man's parents are living in destitution in Longford, could the amount of the property be realised and transmitted to them.

MR. J. CHAMBERLAIN

I am unable to trace any case of the kind named, but, if the hon. Member can furnish me with fuller particulars, including date of death, name under which the deeds were lodged, and the office in which they were lodged, I will make further inquiry.
