HC Deb 02 May 1901 vol 93 cc427-8
MR. TENNANT

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the death of Murray Livingstone, a professional boxer, who died in Charing Cross Hospital on Wednesday, 25th instant, from the effects of an injury sustained in a glove contest at the National Sporting Club on the night of 22nd April; and whether, seeing that this is the fourth death which has occurred in consequence of these so-called national sports within a short time, he can see his way to take such steps as are necessary to abolish this institution.

*MR. RITCHIE

A charge of manslaughter at the instance of the police against the persons concerned is now under investigation at Bow Street.
