§ MR. DALYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether he can state how many workhouses have been amalgamated in Ireland since 1888, and the rates for the two years preceding the amalgamation as well as the two years succeeding amalgamation, and, if a union has been divided when amalgamation took place, whether he can give the rates on the divided portions for two years before and after amalgamation.
§ MR. WYNDHAMTwo unions have been dissolved since 1888—namely, Gortin and Glin. I will communicate the information desired on the incidence of the rates to the hon. Member; it could not be conveniently given in the form of a reply to a question.
§ MR. J. P. FARRELL (Longford, N.)Do the Government intend to put forward any general scheme of amalgamation for the unions of Ireland?
§ MR. WYNDHAMI am not aware of any such intention, but perhaps the hon. Member will put the question down.
