MR. ROCHE (Galway, E.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieu- tenant of Ireland whether he will state the amount of cost incurred in establishing the Queen's Colleges of Cork, Belfast, and Galway. and also the amount of present endowments and the total amounts of the annual grants since made for maintenance and such purposes.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe original cost of the buildings to the State was £100,000, and additional grants amounting to £138,627 have since been made for new buildings and cost of maintenance. Each of the colleges receives an endowment of £7,000 a year out of the Consolidated Fund, together with an annual Parliamentary Vote of £1,600 in aid of expenses.
