HC Deb 14 March 1901 vol 90 c1576
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate if he will state the number of acres of land purchased by the Congested Districts Board for Scotland since the establishment of the Board, and the total sum of purchase money paid.

*MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

I have to state in reply to the hon. Member that the Congested Districts Board have made purchases of considerable areas of land for new settlements in two different parts of the congested area. Information as to these will duly appear in the Report of the Board for the year to 31st March next. Other negotiations are in contemplation, and it is inexpedient to give further information until the Report of the Board is in the hands of hon. Members.

MR. WEIR

Seeing that last session-the issue of the Report was delayed several months, will the right hon. Gentleman take care that this year it is placed in the hands of Members earlier?

*MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

I am quite aware of the inconvenience caused' by the delay last session. We have reason to hope it will not occur again.
