§ MR. BELL (Derby)I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if his attention has been called to the explosion of a locomotive while running a mineral train near Pontefract, on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway on the night of 1565 the 11th instant, by which two men, the driver and fireman, were killed; can he state the number of the same type of locomotive possessed by the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company, and their steam pressure; and whether he will order an inspection to be made of all that class of locomotives on the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway.
§ MR. GERALD BALFOURThe Board of Trade have ordered an inquiry into this accident. I am not at present prepared to make any further statement with regard to the matter.
