§ MR. TULLYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether the Local Government Board have received resolutions from the Leitrim County Council and Mohill District Council asking to have the unions in South Leitrim amalgamated with a view to using one of the workhouses used as an auxiliary asylum; and whether, in consequence of this proposal, the Lord Lieutenant will withhold his sanction from the proposed loan of £40,000 for enlarging Sligo asylum, the chief cost of maintaining which falls on the ratepayer's of Leitrim and Sligo.
§ MR. WYNDHAMThe answer to the first paragraph is in the affirmative. The county councils of Sligo and Leitrim, the 1175 two counties constituting the Asylum District, have not yet sanctioned the proposed loan of £40,000 for the enlargement of the asylum, and until the proposal has been considered by them the question will not come before the Lord Lieutenant.
