§ MR. HORNER (Lambeth, N.)
I beg to ask the Vice-President of the Committee of Council on Education whether his attention has been called to the recent election to the London County Council 812 of a schoolmaster who holds an appointment under the London School Board; whether it is permissible for a public official of the London School Board to use the time he should be devoting to his official duties for any other purpose than that for which he is paid by the ratepayers; and what steps he proposes to take.
THE VICE-PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION (Sir J. GOIIST,) Cambridge University
No; my attention has not been called to the matter. The only regulation of the Board of Education bearing on the matter is to be found in Article 85 (e) of the Code.
