§ MR. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAINYes, Sir. The French Post Office makes a uniform charge of 1 per cent. The British charges are framed with more regard to the cost of the service, which is not proportioned to the amount of the order. For sums under £4 the advantage is with the French remitter. Above that amount it is with the English.
