I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War if he can now state whether any steps are being taken for obtaining facilities for the carrying on of autumn manœuvres, more especially for the training of officers.

No further steps are being taken at present. It is not, indeed, proposed to take any, having regard to the large number of troops now in South Africa.
