HC Deb 23 July 1901 vol 97 c1332
MR. M'CANN (Dublin, St. Stephen's Green)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to Mr. Wigham's new lighthouse light exhibited continuously on the top of a high building in Sackville Street, Dublin, from the time of the visit of her late Majesty in April of last year till the beginning of the present summer; whether he has received any reports respecting it; and whether any steps are being taken to secure the lights for the public service.

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

Yes, Sir, my attention has been called by Mr. Wigham to his new lighthouse light, and I have suggested to him that he should communicate with the general lighthouse authorities directly if he wishes to introduce his apparatus to their notice, as it is not within the province of the Board of Trade to recommend inventions to the lighthouse authorities. I have not received any report on the subject, nor has any application been received from any of the lighthouse authorities for Board of Trade sanctions to the adoption of the light.
