HC Deb 16 July 1901 vol 97 cc587-8
MR. BELL (Derby)

I beg to ask the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that engine 676, which exploded at Knottingley, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, on 11th March last, has been at work for about six weeks; whether he can now state approximately when the report upon the explosion will be presented; and whether he will direct the inspector to inquire whether the stays used in repairing are of the same material and construction as those in use at the time the explosion occurred.

MR. GERALD BALFOUR

I have no information as to whether this engine is at work again. The report on the accident is in the printer's hands, and I hope it may be ready for issue in the course of a few days. I understand from the Inspecting Officer that the report will contain information bearing generally on the question raised in the last paragraph of the hon. Member's question.
