HC Deb 16 July 1901 vol 97 c580
MR. WINSTON CHURCHILL (Oldham)

I beg to ask the Secretary of State for War a question of which I have given him private notice, namely, whether there is any foundation for the report in the newspapers that large numbers of infantry are to be sent home from South Africa; whether lines of communication now held by His Majesty's forces are to be given up; whether the methods of conducting the war are to be modified or altered in any degree; and, if so, whether he is in a position to make any statement to the House.

MR. BRODRICK

I have only seen the report referred to in one newspaper. The report is wholly unfounded, and it is also inaccurate. I am not in a position to make any statement.
