§ MR. BRODRICKThe very brief telegram in regard to Lieutenant Hern's statement was advisedly withheld until further testimony in support was received from Lord Kitchener and the inquiry asked for had been made.

§ MR. BRODRICKYes, Sir; but the inquiry could not be held by cable. As soon as the results were cabled to us by Lord Kitchener we made them public.
