§ SIR THOMAS ESMONDE (Wexford, N.)I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that it is not possible for tenant farmers in Ireland to obtain a loan for the building of dwelling houses from the Board of Works for a longer period than twenty-one years, and if he will endeavour to have the period for such loans extended to forty-two years.
§ MR. WYNDHAMLoans to tenants for dwelling houses under the 31st section of the Land Law Act, 1881, are repayable in twenty-two not twenty-one years. The period was fixed by the Treasury, and the Government has no reason for believing that it presses hardly on borrowers.
