HC Deb 21 February 1901 vol 89 c710
* SIR CHARLES DILKE (Gloucestershire, Forest of Dean)

I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury whether the Government adhere to their intention to ask both Houses to concur in appointing a Committee on municipal trading; and, if so, whether long notice will be given, and the opportunity afforded for debate.

MR. A. J. BALFOUR

I think it would be very desirable the Committee should be reappointed, and I should be very sorry if the reappointment should be the occasion of any long debate in this House, especially as the matter was debated at considerable length during the last session of Parliament. Of course it is in the power of hon. Members to prevent the reappointment being made after 12 o'clock at night.
