HC Deb 16 August 1901 vol 99 cc1178-9
MR. MOORE (Antrim, N.)

I beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland if he is aware that the vacation period in schools in the north of Ireland is about to commence, and that, in many cases, the teachers have not yet received the amount of the expenses incurred by them in attendance at the classes instituted at the various centres by the National Board for the instruction of teachers; and if he will endeavour to have these sums recouped to the teachers before the vacation commences.

MR. WYNDHAM

All claims for travelling expenses received in the National Education Office in connection with manual and practical instruction and other classes for teachers, where the courses of instruction have been completed, have been paid—with the exception of four irregular claims which are under consideration. Where classes have been interrupted by vacation, the head organisers in charge have already been instructed by the Commissioners to forward claims from the teachers who are entitled to their expenses up to the date of the cessation of those classes.
