§ MR. T. M. HEALYI beg to ask the Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland whether, under the 9th section of the County Officers and Courts (Ireland) Act, 1877, providing that clerks in the offices of Clerks of the Crown and Peace should hold office during the pleasure of the Lord Chancellor, any, and, if so, how many appointments have been made; whether any clerks employed in such offices have been dismissed without the sanction of the Lord Chancellor; and, if so, can he explain why they were deprived of the security of tenure afforded by that section.
§ MR. WYNDHAMOnly two clerks have been appointed under the provisions of the 9th section of the Act referred to. One of these gentlemen retired some time ago and the other is still in office.
