§ MR. JOHN CAMPBELL (Armagh, S.)
I beg to ask the First Lord of the Treasury if he can state the amount of fees paid to the law officers of the Crown in connection with the recent prosecution of Earl Russell, and also the whole expense of the trial.
§ MR. SWIFT MACNEILL (Donegal, S.)
Will the right hon. Gentleman give an 81 undertaking that the fees of the law officers of the Crown will be commensurate with the dignity of Parliament, having regard to the fact that these unfortunate gentlemen only divide about £20,000 between thorn annually.
