HC Deb 30 April 1901 vol 93 c269
MR. WEIR

I beg to ask the Lord Advocate, having regard to the fact that in the Western Highlands and Islands of Scotland a number of interments take place without the production of a medical certificate of death, will he state what steps it is proposed to take to remedy this state of affairs.

*MR. A. GRAHAM MURRAY

A medical certificate of death is not a necessary condition of burial in any part of Scotland. No action could be taken in the matter without legislation, which it is not at present proposed to undertake.
