HC Deb 30 April 1901 vol 93 cc264-5
MR. CREMER (Shoreditch, Haggerston)

I beg to ask the Secretary to the Treasury, as representing the Postmaster General, whether, in October, 1900, some new duties were instituted at the Central Telegraph Office, London; whether a petition was sent to the Postmaster General complaining of the character of the duties, and asking for meal reliefs; and whether he is aware that nearly six months have elapsed since the petition was forwarded to the Postmaster General, and if he can now state when an answer will be given to the men.

THE FINANCIAL SECRETARY TO THE TREASURY (Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN, Worcestershire. E.)

A rearrangement of some of the duties at the Central Telegraph Office was made in the latter part of last year, and a petition was sent to the Postmaster General upon the subject, asking for supper reliefs. The matter is still under consideration, and a decision will shortly be given.
